Placenta Encapsulation

Your baby’s placenta when encapsulated contains your own natural hormones and is perfectly made for you and by you!  It can help balance your system, replenish depleted iron, give you more energy and lessen bleeding postnatally.  It has been shown to increase milk production and help you have a happier postpartum period.  It also hastens the return of the uterus to the pre-pregnancy state and can be helpful during menopause.

There isn’t much research to be found on Placentophagy, however, it is well known that anemia can add to postpartum depression.  Placenta pills are an excellent blood builder that help replace iron lost during the birth process.  They can also help with balancing mood and energy with far less side effects than pharmaceuticals. Many of my clients who have previously experienced the  postpartum period without the support of placenta medicine report a remarkable difference – “like night and day.”  Others tell me there’s a noticeable difference by the afternoon, if they have skipped a dose that day. This kind of feedback is the reason I include encapsulation as a part of my service.  Of course, it is a very personal decision to consume your placenta. Ultimately, the choice is yours!

I use the Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) method of preparing the placenta for encapsulation.  This includes washing, steaming, dehydrating, and finally encapsulating.  I only process one placenta at a time and follow OSHA and Blood Borne Pathogen health and safety standards to maintain cleanliness and sterility.  Standard dosage is 2 capsules, 3 times a day taken with meals like any other supplement.  I also include a cord keepsake and a placenta tincture for future use.
